Liddington drives in game-winner
FORT WORTH – Rob Liddington's third hit of the night in the 10th inning secured TCU's 6-5 comeback win over Dallas Baptist Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. The Horned Frogs rallied from a trio of one-run deficits to run their winning streak to three games.
The Rundown
DBU took a 5-4 lead on a solo home run with two outs in the top of the eighth, but could not hold off the Horned Frogs. Jack Bell worked a one-out walk and moved to second on a Nolan Traeger base hit. Rob Liddington tied the game with a base hit up the middle.
Tanner Sagouspe (3-2) took over on the mound in the ninth and retired all six batters he faced. He struck out a season-high five to get the game to the bottom of the 10th.
In the 10th, an error in right on a high fly ball had Brady Dallimore standing on second with one out. Liddington delivered again, ripping the walk-off single into left field to drive in Dallimore with the winning run.
The game was a see-saw battle of lead changes. The Frogs took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Cole Cramer doubled with one out and scored on a two-out base hit by Chase Brunson. DBU took advantage of a couple defensive miscues in the second to take its first lead of the game, 2-1.
A Liddington double to lead off the third turned into the game-tying run as he scored on Cramer's second double of the game. TCU took its second lead of the game in the fifth. Another lead-off double, this one from Colton Griffin, scored on a two-out Chase Brunson double to make it a 3-2 game in favor of the Frogs.
After DBU took a 4-3 lead with two runs on three hits in the top of the sixth, the Frogs responded with the tying-run in the bottom of the inning. Preston Gamster was hit to lead off the inning and scored on a one-out single from Nolan Traeger, setting up the wild finish.
