The Davis Academic Learning Center
The Davis Academic Learning Center is located on the ground level of the John Justin Athletic Center and provides approximately 8,500 square feet of study hall area. “The Davis” is comprised of four tutor rooms and ten additional tutoring stations, a computer lab (18 computers and 1 printer), a large study area that can accommodate up to 62 student-athletes, a work room, a conference room, and administrative office space.The Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center
The Abe Martin Academic Enhancement Center is located in the Meyer-Martin Athletic Complex and is home to 10 additional tutor rooms, the Writing Specialist Office, and additional administrative student-athlete support services.When combining the two centers, the AASO can boast a total of approximately 15,000 square feet, 43 computers and 25 tutoring stations that provide over 722 individual and group tutor sessions on a weekly basis. All Horned Frog student-athletes have equal access to both facilities in order to complete their individualized objective-based learning programs, tutor sessions, and/or academic coach appointments.
Davis Academic Learning Center History
The Davis Academic Learning Center was designed with the goal of aiding student-athletes in their academic endeavors while achieving maximum performance inside the classroom. The 6,000-square-foot facility showcases the TCU Athletics Department's commitment to helping its over 450 student-athletes succeed in the classroom while developing the necessary skills to succeed in life.Located on the first floor of the John S. Justin Athletic Center, the Davis Academic Learning Center features 10 tutor rooms, a computer lab, large open study room area as well as a writing lab supervised by two writing specialist trained by the TCU Writing Center.
The Davis Academic Learning Center is also home to the Athletic Academic Services Office, which consists of a Director along with a staff of eight and countless student tutors available at all times for the needs of Horned Frog student-athletes. If success is measured by graduation rates and grade point averages then the Athletic Academic Services Office is a step above the rest as the Frogs continue to post record numbers in graduates, departmental cumulative grade point averages and academic award winners.
The Davis Academic Learning Center was made possible by a generous donation by John and Leah Davis. A 1974 graduate of TCU, Davis spent 19 years as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Pegasus Solutions, Inc. in Dallas before becoming the CEO of Birch Street Systems. Highly-involved in TCU, Davis served on the Leadership Gift Committee of The Campaign for TCU and is an active member of the Chancellor's Council and a Benefactor of the Addison & Randolph Clark Society as well as the TCU Frog Club.
