
TCU Falls To K-State in Big 12 Tournament

The Rundown
Kansas State raced out to a 5-0 lead after three innings of play. The Wildcats plated two runs in the first on a trio of hits and three more on three hits in the third. The lead grew to 7-0 win two more runs in the fourth.
TCU got on the scoreboard in the fifth. Preston Gamster led off the frame with a double and scored on a Noah Franco double. An error in the outfield had Franco at third with nobody out. Rob Liddington followed with a base hit up the middle to pull the Frogs within five, 7-2.
The Wildcats got the two runs back in the top of the sixth to regain their seven run advantage, 9-2.
The Horned Frogs had a golden opportunity to get back in the game in the seventh. An error, a walk and a hit batter had the bases loaded with nobody. Cole Cramer reached on an error to drive in a run. Lucas Franco worked a bases-loaded walk with one to make it a 9-4 game. But the Frogs would leave them loaded as Kansas State worked out of the jam.
Tommy LaPour (1-3) took the loss after allowing three runs on four hits in two innings of work. He struck out two and walked one. Mason Brassfield struck out four, but allowed four runs on three hits and walked three. Trever Baumler went 2 2/3 innings, allowed a pair of runs on five hits. Noah Franco gave the Frogs 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, while Tanner Sagouspe retired all three batters he faced.

10 – TCU left 10 runners on base in the game.

With the loss, TCU falls to 33-21 on the season. The Horned Frogs will await their postseason fate which will be revealed during the NCAA Selection Show set to air at 11 a.m. on ESPN2 on Monday, May 25.
