James throws eight shutout innings
MANHATTAN, Kan. – A masterful pitching performance by Zack James helped TCU clinch the series with a 4-0 win over Kansas State Sunday afternoon. James tossed a career-high eight scoreless innings for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Zack James (4-0) was outstanding for eight innings, holding the Wildcats to just five hits and seven total base runners. He faced more than four batters in an inning just once and allowed only one base runner to reach second base. He fanned five batters and walked just one.
TCU opened the scoring in the first inning. The Horned Frogs loaded the bases with nobody out. Chase Brunson put the Frogs in front 1-0 with a sacrifice fly.
The lead grew to 3-0 in the second. With Jack Bell and Lucas Franco in scoring position with two outs, Cole Cramer doubled off the right field wall to drive in the runners. Brady Dallimore's one-out home run in the fifth accounted for the final score.
