TCU pitcher chosen in the ninth round
PHILADELPHIA – On the second and final day of the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, TCU pitcher Tanner Sagouspe was chosen by the Colorado Rockies with the 254th overall pick on Sunday afternoon.
Sagouspe made his way to TCU after stellar career at Cal Poly. A first-team All-Big 12 performer, he was tied for second on the team with 20 appearances out of the bullpen. He led the team with a 2.43 ERA and struck out 43 in 33 1/3 innings of work. His five saves on the year were tops on the squad.
With the Mustangs, he appeared in 62 games on the mound and posted a 4.06 ERA with 15 saves. He earned 2024 honorable mention All-Big West accolades.
For his career, Tanner has tallied 12 wins and 21 saves. In 139 2/3 innings of work, he posted an ERA of 3.74 and racked up 166 strikeouts.
Since Kirk Saarloos' arrival on campus prior to the 2013 season, TCU has had 76 draft picks by 27 different organizations. TCU has produced 18 Top 5 round draft picks, including three first round selections, in Saarloos' tenure.
