Frogs score a run in every inning
The Rundown
Back-to-back walks coupled with a trio of stolen bases set the Frogs up to take the early lead on a Nolan Traeger sacrifice fly. Cole Cramer's two-out base hit in the second pushed the lead to 3-0.
After TCU extended its lead to 4-0 on a two-out single from Brady Dallimore, New Haven answered with a trio of runs in the fourth to make it a one-run ballgame, 4-3. With the tying run in scoring position, Nate Stern got a fly out to end the inning with the lead intact.
TCU picked up four runs in the middle innings to build an 8-3 lead. Sawyer Strosnider drove in the lone run in the fourth with a sacrifice fly. Cramer delivered a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Lucas Franco's two-out double in the sixth drove in two.
Jack Arthur made it a 10-3 ballgame with a two-out double in the seventh. A passed ball and a Rob Liddington base hit in the eighth accounted for the final two runs for the Frogs.
Lance Davis allowed three runs on three hits, walked two and struck out two in 3 1/3 innings in a no-decision. Stern surrendered three hits, walked one and struck out one in 1 2/3 innings. Walter Quinn (2-0) picked up the win with two scoreless frames that featured four strikeouts. Zack James struck out four and allowed a run on three hits in his two innings of work.
