Eleven Horned Frogs drive in a run
The Rundown
After falling behind 1-0 in the first, TCU wasted little time responding, scoring eight runs in the bottom of the inning. Nolan Traeger was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to tie the game. Kyuss Gargett's base knock gave the Frogs a 3-1 lead. Two ground outs extended the lead to 5-1. Sawyer Strosnider's bases-clearing double gave the Frogs a comfortable lead, 8-1.
A passed ball in the fourth pushed the advantage to eight, 9-1, as Chase Brunson scored.
An 11-run fifth was helped along by seven hits, three walks and two hit batters. With the bases loaded, Brunson reached on an infield single to drive in the first run of the inning. Traeger walked and Gargett was hit by a pitch to drive in two more. After a Rob Liddington RBI-single, Jack Bell was hit by a pitch. Preston Gamster smoked a two-run double. Cole Cramer, Cole Eaton and Colin Blanchard drove in the final runs of the frame.
Uli Fernsler (1-0) picked up his first career win in his first career home start. He allowed a run on five hits and struck out two over three innings. Trever Baumler tossed three scoreless innings, giving up two hits, walking one and striking out three. Tyler Phenow pitched a scoreless seventh.

13 – TCU drew 13 walks in the game. It was the second straight game and the third time in the last four contests that the Frogs have drawn double-digit walks.
