The Rundown
The Frogs got the scoring started early with a run on two hits in the first. Sawyer Stronsider singled, stole second and scored on Nolan Traeger's base knock to make it 1-0.
New Haven tied the game in the second after the first two batters in the inning reach. The Frogs limited the damage to a single run with the first of their three double plays in the game.
The Frogs wasted little time regaining the advantage. Lucas Franco led off the second with a double and scored on a bases-loaded walk drawn by Chase Brunson. Traeger cleared the bases with a double to make it a 5-1 contest.
Five more runs crossed the plate in the third. Rob Liddington's first of two sacrifice flies drove in the first run of the frame. A dropped ball in center allowed two more runs to score. Chase Brunson put the exclamation point on the inning with a two-run shot to left for a 10-1 lead.
Cole Cramer's bases-loaded double in the fourth pushed the lead to 13-2. Liddington's second sacrifice fly in the fifth accounted for the Frogs' final run.
Mason Brassfield (1-1) went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked two and struck out five in the win. Kade Durnin pitched the final three innings to earn the save. He gave up a run on four hits, walked three and struck out two.
Stat of the Game:
7 – TCU stole seven bases, matching its season output through the first eight games. It's the most stolen bases in a game since May 12, 2023 against Baylor.
