FORT WORTH - TCU scored six two-out, unearned runs in the seventh to break open a tight game en route to posting an 11-6 victory over Texas, completing the doubleheader sweep on Saturday. The victory stretches TCU's winning streak to seven games.

A see-saw battle through the first six innings saw the Horned Frogs holding a slim, 4-3 lead.

With Connor Wanhanen standing on second and two outs in the seventh, Nolan Brown hit a routine grounder to short. The ball skipped under the glove, allowing Wanhanen to score a big insurance run for a 5-3 lead. Elliott Barzilli followed with a base hit and Garrett Crain took a pitch off the foot to load the bases. Back-to-back four-pitch walks to Keaton Jones and Cody Jones pushed the lead to four, 7-3. Derek Odell cleared the bases with a double for a 10-3 lead.

Texas fought back in the eighth, scoring a pair of runs on three hits to close the gap to five, 10-5. Zane Gurwitz led off with a double and scored on a base hit from Bret Boswell. Ben Johnson doubled home Boswell before Preston Guillory came on and got C.J. Hinojosa to fly out to end the inning.

TCU kept the pressure on as it pushed across a run in the bottom of the inning. Dane Steinhagen doubled with one out, moved to second on a ground out and scored on a wild pitch to push the lead back to six, 11-5.

The Longhorns scratched across the an unearned run and loaded the bases in the ninth, but Guillory worked out of the jam with a fly out to end the game.

Similar to game one, the Frogs struck first, picking up a run on three hits in the first. Cody Jones led off with a base hit and moved to third on a Jeremie Fagnan base knock. Wanhanen's first hit of the night drove in Jones for a 1-0 lead.

Texas tied the game in the third. With two on and one out, the Longhorns executed a hit-and-run and Ben Johnson was able to score easily on a Hinojosa base hit. With runners on the corners and one out, Tyler Alexander got a strikeout and a ground out to end the frame without another run scoring.

TCU wasted little time regaining the lead in the third. The trio of Cody Jones, Fagnan and Wanhanen once again did the damage with Wanhanen driving in Jones for his second RBI of the game and a 2-1 TCU lead.

Brooks Marlow tied the game with a lead-off home run in the fourth. A two-out, two-base error scored on a Johnson single to give Texas its first lead of the series, 3-2.

The Frogs plated single runs in the fifth and sixth inning to regain a lead they wouldn't relinquish. Keaton Jones opened the fifth with a base hit and scored on an Evan Skoug sacrifice fly, tying the game at three. In the sixth, Brown was hit by a pitch to open the inning. With one out, Jones hit a sac fly to left, allowing Brown to score the go-ahead run.

After TCU had tied the game in the sixth, Texas looked poised to snatch the lead back as it loaded the bases with one out. Alexander fanned Collin Shaw for the second out before giving way to Brian Trieglaff, who froze Hinojosa looking to end the inning without a run scoring.

Alexander started for TCU and went 5 2/3 innings. He allowed three runs (two earned) on 10 hits. He issued an intentional walk and struck out six. Trieglaff earned the win in relief as he went two innings. He surrendered two runs on three hits and struck out two. Guillory recorded the final four outs of the game. He was touched for an unearned run on one hit and one walk.

With the victory, TCU improves to 33-8 overall and 9-5 in Big 12 play. The Horned Frogs will go for the series sweep on Sunday afternoon at 1. Alex Young will toe the rubber for TCU and face Texas' Chad Hollingsworth. The game will be televised on FSSW+.
