Frogs score three runs in the eighth
FORT WORTH – Chase Brunson's two-run double in the eighth flipped a deficit into a lead as TCU rallied for a 4-2 win over Houston Saturday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. The win extends the Horned Frogs' winning streak to five games.
The Rundown
Entering the eighth, TCU found itself staring at a 2-1 deficit. Cole Cramer got things started with a lead-off single. Sawyer Strosnider followed with his second double of the game to put the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position. Chase Brunson delivered, doubling off the wall in right center to give TCU a 3-2 lead. He scored the insurance run on a Brady Dallimore two-out run.
Tanner Sagouspe took over in the ninth and pitched around a two-out single in the ninth to close out the game and pick up his third save of the season.
Houston took a 1-0 lead in the first on a one-out solo home run. The Cougars threatened to add to the lead in the second with a runner on third and one out. Lance Davis left the runner there with a pair of ground outs.
TCU tied the game in the fourth on a lead-off solo home run from Preston Gamster. The Frogs came close to the lead after a pair of two-out walks in the sixth. A diving play on the infield to steal a base hit kept the game tied at one.
The Cougars grabbed a late-lead on a two-out home run in the eighth. They squandered yet another chance to extend its lead in the eighth as they had another runner on third with one out. Nate Stern picked up a huge strikeout for the second out and got a ground out to end the inning, setting up the comeback.
