Treager drives in a career-high six runs
The Rundown
TCU took an early 1-0 lead in the first on a Nolan Traeger sacrifice fly to drive in Cole Cramer.
Seven straight two out runners in the third turned the game in favor of LMU. A two-out double tied the game. A base hit and double followed to give the Lions a 3-1 lead. A bases-loaded hit batter accounted for the final run of the inning. The Lions added two more in the fourth to open up a 6-1 lead.
The game turned in the fifth as the Frogs batted around twice and put up a 12 spot to take a 13-6 lead. A bases-loaded passed ball, wild pitch and an error had the Frogs within one, 6-5. Nolan Traeger doubled to tie the game and a Rob Liddington sacrifice fly had the Frogs in front, 7-6. Bases loaded walks to Jack Bell and Colton Griffin extended the lead to three, 9-6.
After a Cramer sacrifice fly, another walk loaded the bases. Chase Brunson was hit by a pitch for the second time in the inning to drive in a run. Traeger lined a two-run single through the right side to drive in the final runs of the frame, giving TCU a 13-6 lead.
Another four runs came around to score as the lead grew to 10, 17-7. Jack Bell led off the inning with a double followed by two walks to load the bases. Brunson was hit for the fourth time in the game to drive in the first run. Nolan Traeger cleared the bases with a single to right center.
Cade Nelson started for the Frogs and allowed four runs on four hits in 2 2/3 innings. He walked one and struck out five. Walter Quinn (1-0) picked up the win in relief, allowing a run on one hit. He struck out three in 1 2/3 innings. Trever Baumler and Nolan Johnson each turned in a scoreless inning.
Stat of the Game:
12 – TCU scored 12 times in the fifth inning. In that frame, the Frogs had nine walks, three hits, two hit batters and an error.

With the win, TCU improves to 3-5 on the season. The Horned Frogs will open their 2026 home schedule on Friday when it hosts New Haven in the first of three games. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. The contest will be televised on ESPN+.
