Strosnider and Franco homer for the Frogs
The Rundown
TCU opened up the scoring in the first. Sawyer Strosnider walked with one out and moved to third on a Nolan Traeger base hit. The duo executed on the bases as Traeger broke for second drawing a throw. Strosnider raced home from third to give the Frogs a 1-0 lead.
UCLA used back-to-back two-out home runs in the second to take a 3-1 lead, but the Frogs had a response in the next half inning. Cole Cramer walked with one out and scored on a Strosnider triple. Chase Brunson followed with an infield single to tie the game at three.
The Bruins and the Frogs traded lead-off home runs to work it to a 4-4 ballgame. UCLA's solo shot came in the bottom of the third, while Strosnider's game-tying blast came in the fifth.
UCLA took advantage of a lead-off double followed by a wild pitch and turned it into a 5-4 lead in the fifth. In the sixth, the Bruins batted around and scored four times to extend their lead to five, 9-4. A six-spot in the eighth ended the game.
Lucas Franco's two out home run in the eighth accounted for the Frogs' final tally.
Uli Fernsler made his first start of the season and allowed three runs on three hits in two innings. He walked one and struck out one in the no-decision. Tanner Sagouspe (1-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits over three innings. He struck out two.
