Franco, Silva and Traeger homer for TCU
The Rundown
TCU found itself in a 3-0 hole in the top of the first. The Frogs battled back with single runs in the first and second to make it a 3-2 game, but the Bearcats would restore its three-run lead with two runs in the fifth. The TCU bats woke up as they exploded for 15 runs on 14 hits.
The comeback was on in the fifth as the Frogs tied the game. Cole Cramer pulled the Frogs within two with an RBI-single. Noah Franco tied the game with a blast to dead center.
A five spot in the sixth followed as the Frogs opened up a 10-5 lead. Karson Bowen's bases-loaded single put the Frogs in front, 6-5. Following a Sawyer Strosnider RBI-single, Franco cleared the bases with a three-run double down the left field line.
After Cincinnati pulled to with two, 10-8, in the eighth, the Frogs responded with seven in the bottom of the inning. Nolan Traeger hit a three-run home run to center to give the Frogs some breathing room. Anthony Silva followed with a home run for a 14-8 lead. With the bases-loaded, Cole Cramer singled to left to drive in two runs. Strosnider raced home with the Frogs' final run of the game on a wild pitch.
The Bearcats scored three in the ninth on their third home run of the game, but Zack James settled in and retired three straight to close out the game.
Tommy LaPour started for the Frogs. He allowed five runs on seven hits, walked two and struck out 11 in 4 1/3 innings. Louis Rodriguez (3-1) took over in the fifth and pitched the game into the eighth to earn the win. He allowed two runs on two hits over 3 1/3 innings with a walk and four strikeouts.
