FORT WORTH – TCU completed the midweek series sweep of Air Force with an 11-1 win on Wednesday afternoon at Lupton Stadium. Sawyer Strosnider led the offense with three hits and three RBIs. Zack James pitched four innings of one-run baseball.
The Rundown
After a rocky start to the game, Zack James (2-0) settled in and pitched four innings of one-run, three hit baseball. Three of the first five Falcons reached as they opened up a 1-0 lead on a two-out single. James found his rhythm and retired 10 of the final 11 batters he faced to earn the win.
The bullpen duo of Noah Franco and Kole Klecker retired all nine batters they faced in closing out the final three innings of the game. Franco fanned four of the six batters he faced, while Klecker picked up one strikeout.
Offensively, the Frogs took a 2-1 lead in the first and never looked back. Chase Brunson's sacrifice fly tied the game. Nolan Traeger's base hit caused issues in the outfield allowing Isaac Cadena to score from first to give the Frogs the lead.
The first five hitters reached in the second as TCU extended its lead to five, 6-1. Sawyer Strosnider bounced a double down the right field line to drive in two and scored on a Sam Myers base hit up the middle. An errant throw on a stolen base attempt allowed Myers to score the final run of the inning.
Back-to-back RBI singles from Franco and Strosnider in the third pushed TCU's advantage to 8-1. Anthony Silva's two-out double in the sixth made it a 10-1 game. Cole Cramer delivered the walk-off single in the seventh to gie the Frogs their second straight run-rule victory.
