
TCU Powers Past Texas Tech To Even Series

The Rundown
Three pitches into the contest the Horned Frogs had a 1-0 lead courtesy of a lead-off home run from Luke Boyers. Two batters later, Brayden Taylor homered off the right field foul pole for a 2-0 lead.
Back-to-back doubles from Taylor and Cole Fontenelle made it a 3-0 game in the third. Austin Davis' sacrifice fly brought home Fontenelle with the second run of the inning.
Texas scratched across three runs in the third to pull within one, but TCU wasted little time answering as Elijah Nunez led off the fourth with his first home run of the season and a 5-3 lead.
Karson Bowen singled home Fontenelle and scored on a two-run blast from Davis to make it an 8-3 ballgame in the fifth. Boyers' second home run to lead off the sixth extended the advantage to six, 9-3.
Texas Tech made it a two-run ballgame with three runs in the sixth and a run in the seventh. Garrett Wright took over in the seventh and retired three straight to end the inning with the Frogs in front 9-7. TCU tacked on an insurance run in the eighth after Davis was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded.
Wright turned in three scoreless to pick up his first save of the season. He struck out two and allowed just one hit. Kole Klecker (5-2) went 5 2/3 innings in the start, allowing six runs on seven hits. He walked three and struck out two.

3 – With two home runs in the game, Luke Boyers made it three straight contests that a Horned Frog has homered multiple times in a game. Anthony Silva hit two at UT Arlington, while Cole Fontenelle homered twice in Game 1 of the series.
