FORT WORTH – The pitching duo of Chase Hoover and Cohen Feser combined to hold Abilene Christian to just three hits in a 7-0 win for TCU on Tuesday night. Luke Boyers and Austin Davis homered in the win for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Chase Hoover (1-0) was strong in making his first career start on the mound. He allowed a base-runner in each of his first three innings of work, but the Horned Frogs turned a trio of double plays to erase the runners. Following a lead-off double in the fourth, Hoover retired the final 15 batters he faced. He finished the night allowing just two hits, walking two and striking out four.
Luke Boyers got the Frogs on the board with a solo home run in the third.
A four spot followed in the fourth as TCU's lead grew to 5-0. Austin Davis opened the inning with a home run. A throwing error on a potential double play ball allowed Karson Bowen to score for a 3-0 lead. Boyers' two out, two run double broke the game open.
TCU added a pair of runs in the seventh. A bases loaded error allowed both runs two score.
Cohen Feser took over in the eighth and retired six of the seven batters he faced. He struck out the side in the eighth and added his fourth in the ninth.
