
Williamson Selected By Mariners In Second Round

Junior is the 59th overall selection
FORT WORTH – TCU junior left-hander Brandon Williamson was selected with the 59thoverall pick of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Seattle Mariners. The second-round selection was the second Horned Frog drafted on Day 1.
Williamson transferred to TCU in the fall and was a mainstay in the starting rotation throughout the season. In 16 starts this year, Williamson posted a 4.19 ERA in 77 1/3 innings pitched. He tallied 89 strikeouts.
This year marks the second time in program history the Horned Frogs have seen two players drafted in the first 60 picks. Back in 2006, Chad Huffman (San Diego) and Brad Furnish (St. Louis) were drafted back-to-back with picks No. 53 and 54.
Nick Lodolo became TCU's highest-ever baseball draft pick when he was selected No. 7 overall by the Cincinnati Reds.
During his 16 seasons as TCU's head coach, Jim Schlossnagle has seen 77 players drafted by 27 organizations.
