Wolfe and Rizer homer and combine to drive in 7
The Rundown
Hunter Wolfe's first double of the night got the Frogs rolling in the first. After a walk to Jake Guenther, the duo executed a double-steal and an errant throw from the catcher into left allowed Wolfe to score for a 1-0 lead.
TCU added a run in the third to push the advantage to 2-0. Guenther singled and moved to third on a base hit from Austin Henry. Rizer reached on error and on the play, Guenther scored.
Cal pulled within one in the fourth as it took advantage of a lead-off walk. A one-out base hit drove in the run, but Brandon Williamson left the tying run on second with his seventh strikeout to end the inning.
With one swing, Wolfe got the run back as he launched a lead-off home run in the fifth to make it a 3-1 ballgame.
TCU broke the game open in the sixth, scoring six times on four hits, an error and a walk. With the bases loaded, Wolfe doubled to left to drive in a pair. Guenther hit a sacrifice fly followed by an RBI-single from Henry. Rizer lined a two-run home run to straightaway center for a 9-1 lead.
Cal got a run in the eighth, but TCU answered with four in the ninth to put the game out of reach. Adam Oviedo drove in the first run of the inning. After a bases-loaded walk to Wolfe, Dean Frew hit a sacrifice fly to drive in the third run of the frame. A wild pitch brought home the final run of the game.
Brandon Williamson allowed just a run on three hits, walked two and struck out seven in four innings of work. Charles King (6-3) picked up the win in relief with four innings of work. He allowed a run on three hits and fanned two. Haylen Green and Cal Coughlin combined to pitch a scoreless ninth.

With the win, TCU improves to 33-26 overall. The Horned Frogs have advanced in the winner's bracket of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional and will face the No. 5 National Seed, Arkansas, Saturday night at 6 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPN3. Nick Lodolo will get the start for the Frogs.
