
TCU Comes Up Short In Series Finale

STILLWATER, Okla. – An unearned run in the bottom of the ninth gave Oklahoma State the 9-8 victory over TCU on Saturday night at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys rallied from a 6-0 deficit.
The Rundown
TCU struck for a quartet of two out runs in the first to open up a 4-0 lead. A.J. Balta drove in two with a bases-loaded single through the right side. Adam Oviedo followed with a single to make it a 3-0 game. Michael Landestoy and Balta executed a double steal for the final run of the frame.
Two more two out runs score in the second as TCU's lead grew to 6-0. With Luken Baker and Josh Watson standing in scoring position, Landestoy battled through a nine pitch at-bat before coming through with a two-run single for a 6-0 lead.
OSU began its comeback with solo runs in the third and fourth. Carson McCuster homered to lead off the third. In the fourth, Sean Wymer wiggled out of a bases loaded, nobody out jam giving up only one run.
The Cowboys made it a one-run game, 6-5, with a trio of runs in the fifth. McCuster opened the inning with his second home run of the game. John Littell's one-out double drove in two.
Three more runs crossed the plate for Oklahoma State in the seventh as they completed the comeback and opened up an 8-6 lead. A fielder's choice tied the game with one out. Back-to-back base hits put the Cowboys in front.
TCU fought back with two runs of its own in the eighth to tie the game at eight. Zach Humphreys scored on a Josh Watson base hit and Connor Wanhanen raced home on an RBI ground out from Landestoy.
A lead-off walk and an error in the ninth proved costly as the Cowboys completed the comeback. Pinch runner Noah Sifrit slid home ahead of the tag on a bouncer to second to give the Cowboys the win.
