FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Baseball Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle announced the addition of Flint Wallace as the Director of Baseball Operations. Wallace played three seasons for the Horned Frogs from 1994-96 before heading into the professional ranks for three years with the Oakland A's. He has spent the past seven years coaching at Weatherford High School."I'm ecstatic about the opportunity to return to my alma mater in an administrative role," said Wallace. "This is a great opportunity for me to work with a successful program. It's a great way to break into collegiate coaching. Good things are happening here and it's exciting to become a part of that."
As the head coach at Weatherford, Wallace led the squad to back-to-back appearances in the state playoffs. They have a 45-25 record over the past two seasons under Wallace's direction. Prior to becoming the head coach, Wallace served as an assistant on the staff for six years, helping lead them to two state appearances.
As a player for the Horned Frogs, Wallace played for three seasons under former head coach Lance Brown. He appeared in 49 games over the course of his career, making 39 starts. In 1996, Wallace made 18 starts which is tied for the most starts in a single season. His 10 victories that season are tied for the sixth-most all-time. He tossed seven career complete games and finished his career with a 17-11 career record and an ERA of 5.13. In 242 innings pitched, Wallace fanned 172 batters. Following his senior season, Wallace was drafted in 1996 by the Oakland Athletics in the 27th round. He played for three seasons in the organization.
"We are all excited to have Flint back into the fold as a former Horned Frog," said Schlossnagle. "He has had success on a variety of levels and will be a great addition to our program."
