Horned Frogs Baseball Downs Red Raiders, 7-5

LUBBOCK, Texas (Mar. 28) - For the first time since February 27, the Texas Tech Red Raiders lost a game at Dan Law Field. The visiting TCU Horned Frogs defeated Tech 7-5 on Tuesday afternoon in Lubbock. Texas Tech is now 17-16 overall while TCU improved to 12-20 on the season.
The game was back-and-forth through four innings with the score tied at 2-2. In the fifth, the Horned Frogs scored a pair of runs on a two-run home run by Shaun Wooley. The Horned Frogs added one more in the top of the sixth before Texas Tech tied the game at 5-5 with three scored in their half of the fifth.
Jason Rainey started the scoring for the Red Raiders with his fourth home run of the season. After a Marco Cunningham single, Cory Sellars notched his second homer of the year to even the score at five. However, that was all Tech would get as Josh Gardner and Stan Newton held Tech scoreless on two hits over the final 3.2 innings.
Cunningham lead the way at the plate going 2-4 with a run and an RBI while Trey Lunsford ended the day 2-4 with one RBI. Chad Landry extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in his first at bat. He finished the day 1-4 with a run.
Clancy Fossum suffered his second loss of the season with 2.0 innings out of the bullpen. He allowed one run on two hits and a walk. Starter Aaron Tims allowed four runs on six hits, two walks and two strikeouts over 5.0 innings.
The Red Raiders will be back in Big 12 action this weekend when they host Kansas State. First pitch on Friday night will be at 7 p.m. TCU will be on the road for a WAC series at Rice.
