Frogs strand seven on base
STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State scored nine unanswered runs in its final three offensive innings to rally for the 9-2 win over TCU Saturday night at O'Brate Stadium. Chase Brunson drove in the only two runs of the game for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
A pitcher's duel unfolded over the first five innings as TCU's Lance Davis and Oklahoma State's Stormy Rhodes went toe-to-toe. Davis allowed just five base runners in the first five innings, while Rhodes surrendered just two.
It was the Frogs that broke the stalemate in the sixth. A two-out infield single from Cole Cramer kept the inning alive. A walk to Sawyer Strosnider followed. Chase Brunson doubled off the wall in left center to give the Frogs a 2-0 lead.
The first two Cowboys reached in the bottom of the sixth on a walk and a double. Back-to-back sacrifice flies tied the game.
TCU found itself in trouble once again in the seventh with Cowboys on first and third and only one out. A popped up bunt gifted the Frogs the second out, but chaos on a wild pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score from third. A two-run double followed and the Cowboys had a 5-2 lead.
The Frogs had a chance to get back in the game in the eighth with the tying runs on base but couldn't come up with the big hit. The Cowboys put up four runs in the bottom of the frame to put the game out of reach.
Lance Davis was once again solid in a starting role. He allowed just two runs on four hits, walked two and struck out four over six innings. Tommy LaPour (0-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on four hits an inning of work.
