The Rundown
TCU jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on a two-out Noah Franco double and a bases-loaded hit by pitch. As was the case much of the night, Kansas State answered with two in the bottom of the inning.
After a scoreless second, TCU restored its three-run lead with a pair of runs in the third. Nolan Traeger's one-out double gave the Frogs a 5-2 lead. The Wildcats responded in the bottom of the inning. Six straight batters reached with two outs and all six scored as Kansas State opened up an 8-5 lead.
TCU battled back to tie the game at eight in the fourth. The first four batters in the frame reached via an error, hit, walk and hit batter. Back-to-back ground outs from Franco and Jack Bell tied the game.
The Frogs took a 9-8 lead on a wild pitch in the fifth and opened up a three-run lead, 11-8, with two in the sixth. Chase Brunson led off the inning with an opposite field home run. Franco reached on an error and scored on a two-out base hit from Kyuss Gargett. Kansas State answered TCU's sixth inning runs with two of its own to pull within one, 11-10.
Doubles from Cole Cramer and Brunson in the seventh pushed TCU's lead to two, 12-10, but the Wildcats battled back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning on a fielder's choice and bases-loaded walk.
The Wildcats took advantage of a lead-off walk in the ninth and turned it into the game-winning run as they went on to load the bases with one out. A sacrifice fly gave Kansas State the walk-off win.
Mason Brassfield started and went three innings. He allowed eight runs (four earned) on seven hits, walked three and struck out five. Tanner Sagouspe gave the Frogs two scoreless innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Walter Quinn (2-2) took the loss after allowing a run on two walks in 1/3 of an inning.
