Frogs rally with two in the 13th to win
The Rundown
Emotional swings highlighted the extra frames as both teams battled to pick up the win. TCU saw a golden opportunity with the bases loaded and nobody out go by the wayside in the 12th. The Red Raiders translated the momentum into a go-ahead run with a two-out base hit in the 13th to take a 9-8 lead.
Cole Cramer led off the bottom of the inning with a base hit and scored from first on Sawyer Strosnider double to tie the game at nine. Head's up base running had Strosnider on third with nobody out as he took the extra 90 on the throw to the plate. Chase Brunson delivered the walk-off sacrifice fly to secure the come-from-behind 10-9 win.
The contest was a see-saw battle the entire way. TCU answered a trio of Texas Tech runs in the second with four of its own in the bottom of the frame to take a 4-3 lead. Two-run home runs from Preston Gamster and Cole Cramer highlighted the frame.
Texas Tech retook the lead with a two-run home run in the top of the third only to see the Frogs tie the game at five on a Brady Dallimore home run in the bottom of the frame.
The Red Raiders broke the stalemate with a run in the top seventh on a bases-loaded hit batter. Again, the Frogs had the answer in the form of a longball. Strosnider led off the inning with a double and scored on a Noah Franco home run for a 7-6 lead. Jack Bell extended advantage to 8-6 with a solo home run in the eight.
A two-out rally in the ninth by Texas Tech tied the game at eight, setting up the wild finish.
Lance Davis started for the Frogs and allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits in 2 2/3 innings. Tanner Sagouspe gave the Frogs 3 1/3 scoreless innings of relief, surrendering just four hits and striking out three. Trever Baumler (2-0) was solid in four relief innings, all in extras. He allowed a run on six hits, walked two and struck out four.
