Frogs run Big 12 winning streak to nine games
ORLANDO, Fla. – Another quality start from Tommy LaPour guided No. 25 TCU to a 6-1 win over UCF Thursday night at John Euliano Park. The victory ran TCU's Big 12 winning streak to nine games. Chase Brunson homered for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Tommy LaPour (6-2) turned in his fifth straight quality start, holding the league's best-hitting team to just four hits. He allowed an unearned run over seven innings and struck out four.
TCU opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the third. Two singles and a hit batter loaded the bases with nobody out. Sawyer Strosnider bounced into a double play, but a run crossed the plate for a 1-0 lead. Cole Cramer delivered a two-out single to give the Frogs a 2-1 lead.
UCU cut the deficit in half in the fourth, picking up a run on two hits. The run scored on a sacrifice fly. With runners on the corners, LaPour induced an inning-ending double play ball to strand the tying run at third.
The Frogs picked up two big runs in the sixth on Chase Brunson's two-run home run to right. Two more runs crossed the plate in the seventh as the TCU lead grew to five, 6-1.
