
TCU Falls To Kentucky In Game 1 Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – TCU dropped the first game of a Saturday doubleheader by a 5-1 score to Kentucky. Elijah Nunez tallied two hits in the game for the Horned Frogs.
The Rundown
Kentucky opened the scoring in the first, taking advantage of a one-out walk. A bloop double with two outs brought home the first run of the game.
TCU came close to tying the game in the third. Kurtis Byrne opened the inning with a double. Elijah Nunez singled with two outs, but a strike from left field to the plate cut down Byrne trying to score.
The Wildcats doubled their lead with back-to-back one out doubles in the fourth.
The Frogs cut into the lead with a run on three hits in the fifth. Again, Byrne got the Frogs started with a base hit. He moved to second on a Garrison Berkley base knock. Nunez came up with another two out hit and this time, Byrne was able to score without a play at the plate.
Kentucky batted around in the bottom of the fifth as it extended its lead to four, 5-1. The big blow was a three-run home run. Cohen Feser took over on the mound with the bases loaded and got a strikeout to end the inning without any further damage.
Riley Cornelio (1-1) took the loss after allowing five runs on six innings. He walked one and struck out four.
