
TCU Walks Off In Extras; Sweeps Doubleheader

FORT WORTH – Elijah Nunez drew a two out bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning to give No. 21 TCU its second straight walk-off victory over Army to complete the Saturday doubleheader sweep. The Horned Frogs rallied from a 5-1 deficit to pick up the win.
The Rundown
The Frogs comeback started with an Elijah Nunez lead-off double in the eighth. After a walk to Brayden Taylor, David Bishop singled to make it a 5-2 game. Gray Rodgers followed with an RBI-double to pull the Frogs within two. Kurtis Byrne made it a one-run ballgame with an RBI-groundout and an error allowed the tying run to score.
TCU loaded the bases in the ninth with one out, but the Black Knights turned an inning-ending double play. Army faced another bases-loaded situation in the 10th, but couldn't escape this time as Nunez worked a five pitch walk to drive in Bobby Goodloe with the winning run.
Army opened the scoring with two runs in the second. After Bishop cut the deficit in half with a two out solo home run in the third, Army answered with a trio of two-out runs in the top of the fourth.
The TCU bullpen was strong in relief of Brett Walker who allowed five runs on eight hits in 4 1/3. Caleb Bolden (0.2 IP), Augie Mihlbauer (2.0 IP), Storm Hierholzer (1.0 IP) and River Ridings (2.0 IP) tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings. TCU turned a pair of double plays on defense to squelch Army threats in the seventh, eighth and 10thinnings.
Ridings (2-0) earned the win in relief, allowing two hits, two walks and striking out one in two innings of work.
