TCU defeats San Jose State, 6-4

FORT WORTH (Mar. 4) -- Jason Price drove in two runs on three hits to lead TCU to a 6-4 win over San Jose State Saturday at the TCU Diamond. TCU improves to 7-12 overall, 2-0 in WAC play. San Jose State drops to 10-5 overall, 2-3 in WAC action.
Price, who tripled in the first, singled in the third and doubled in the fifth, has six hits in the series. Ramon Moses, Mark Hamilton, Shaun Wooley and Marshall Wilson each had two hits for TCU. Overall, the Frogs outhit San Jose State, 13-9.
The Frogs jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, scoring twice in the first and second innings. In the first, Hamilton singled home Moses and then scored on Price's triple. In the second, Wooley homered to center and Moses drove in Wilson on a two-out single.
San Jose State responded with three runs in the third on two walks and two hits, including a two-run double by Junior Ruiz. The Spartans threatened in the fourth and fifth innings, but were unable to score as they stranded two in the fourth and then left the bases loaded in the fifth. San Jose State did add a run in the seventh on a Brandon Macchi's two-out single that scored Ruiz. Ruiz led the Spartans with three hits and two runs batted in. Macchi and Adam Shorsher each had two hits.
The Frogs added insurance runs in the fifth and eighth innings. Hamilton singled with one out in the fifth and then scored on Price's double. In the eighth, Wilson doubled down the left field line, driving home Wooley.
Chris Bradshaw picked up his first win of the season, allowing three runs in five innings. David Tombrella allowed only one run on two hits in two innings and Chad Durham struck out three in the final two frames to earn his second save. San Jose State starter Joey Baker went the distance, throwing 154 pitches. He allowed six runs on 13 hits and nine strikeouts.
The Frogs will attempt to sweep San Jose State on Sunday. First-pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. TCU won the opener on Friday, 13-5.
