Baseball Sweeps Texas Wesleyan in Doubleheader

FORTH WORHT, Texas (March 24) -- Shaun Wooley recorded a win and a save Friday, leading TCU to a doubleheader sweep of Texas Wesleyan. The Frogs improve to 10-19 overall, while the Rams drop to 18-13. TCU won the opener, 5-4 and then took game two, 7-2.
In the first game of the doubleheader, Wooley earned the win, retiring the only batter he faced. He replaced Shawn Thompson, who allowed four runs on six hits in 6.2 innings.
Texas Wesleyan tied the game at 4-4 in the top of the seventh, scoring two runs off of Thompson. Wooley struck out the only hitter he faced, ending the inning. TCU catcher Jason Price doubled home Mark Hamilton in the bottom of the seventh, providing the winning run for the Frogs. Levi Groomer, Hamilton, Price and Erick Macha each had two hits for TCU.
In game two, Wooley pitched two scoreless innings to record his first save of the year. With the tying run on deck, Wooley induced a pair of groundouts, including a double play to get TCU starter Chris Bradshaw out of trouble. Wooley retired Texas Wesleyan in order in the seventh. Bradshaw allowed two runs on four hits in five innings to earn his second win.
Brad Rogers led the Frogs in the nightcap, driving in three runs on two home runs. He hit a two-run shot in the second, walked and scored in the fourth, then hit a solo home run in the fifth. Wooley had two hits, a double in the first and a solo home run in the third.
TCU and Texas Wesleyan will conclude the three-game series on Saturday, March 25. First-pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m.
