Cramer hits walk-off sacrifice fly
FORT WORTH – Cole Cramer's walk-off sacrifice fly delivered TCU a 5-4 win over UTSA Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Isaac Cadena homered as part of a two-hit game. Cohen Feser delivered three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
The Rundown
Karson Bowen led off the ninth with a double. A passed ball moved pinch runner Jack Arthur into scoring position with one out. Cole Cramer delivered with a sacrifice fly to deep right field for the 5-4 walk-off victory.
TCU built a 3-0 lead in the second. Chase Brunson singled with one out. A walk to Jack Bell and an Anthony Silva base hit loaded the bases. Brunson scored on a wild pitch to give the Horned Frogs a 1-0 lead. Sam Myers grounded out and Preston Gamster reached on an infield single to drive in the other two runs.
UTSA scratched across a run in the third and took the lead with three runs in the fifth. A pick-off at second and a caught stealing limited the Roadrunners to just the trio of runs in the fifth.
The Roadrunner lead was short-lived as Isaac Cadena lined a home run over the right field fence to lead off the bottom of the fifth, tying the game at four.
TCU found itself in another jam in the sixth as UTSA loaded the bases with one out on two hits and a walk. Gianluca Shinn wiggled off the hook with back-to-back looking strikeouts to end the inning with the game still tied.
Cohen Feser (1-0) took over in the seventh and retired nine of the 10 batters he faced setting up the walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth for TCU.
