Strosnider tallies four hits in the game
The Rundown
Tommy LaPour (3-2) turned in his third quality start of the season, limiting Texas Tech to two runs on six hits. He walked two and struck out five. The relief trio of Gianluca Shinn, Louis Rodriguez and Zack James retired the final nine Red Raiders, recording four strikeouts to close out the win.
TCU and Texas Tech traded runs in the second. Jack Bell grounded into a fielder's choice to drive in Chase Brunson for a 1-0 lead. Tech tied the game with a lead-off home run in the bottom of the inning.
A five spot in the fourth put the Frogs firmly in control. Isaac Cadena reached on an error to open the inning and moved to third on a Sawyer Strosnider double. Cole Cramer's groundout put the Frogs in front 2-1. With two outs, Nolan Traeger tripled home two runs and scored on Anthony Silva's home run to make it a 6-1 game after three.
The Frogs picked up single runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth. Cramer collected his second RBI with a run-scoring single in the fourth. Brunson beat a throw to the plate on a grounder off the bat of Silva in the fifth. Traeger was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the sixth.
TCU put the game out of reach with four in the eighth. All four runs scored without the benefit of a hit. Cramer reached on an error. Three straight walks followed. Traeger walked to drive in the inning's first run. After a wild pitch brought home another run, back-to-back sacrifice flies from Silva and Bell accounted for the final score.

With the win, TCU improves to 16-6 overall and 2-2 in Big 12 play. Game 2 of the series is slated for Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Noah Franco will get the start for the Horned Frogs. The game will be televised on ESPN+.
