Brunson tallies lone RBI in the game
ARLINGTON, Texas – Kansas State jumped out to an early lead en route to an 10-2 win over No. 13 TCU Sunday afternoon at Globe Life Field. Isaac Cadena tallied two hits in the loss.
The Rundown
The Wildcats opened the scoring in the fourth. A two-out double came around to score on a base hit. Four more runs scored with two outs in the fifth as Kansas State opened up a 5-0 lead. The big blow was a two-run, bases loaded double from Maximus Martin.
TCU finally cracked the scoreboard in the sixth. Isaac Cadena tripled with one out and scored on a Chase Brunson sacrifice fly. Kansas State responded with a five spot in the seventh to open up a 10-1 lead.
The Frogs' final tally of the game came in the eight. Preston Gamster worked a lead-off walk and moved to third on a base hit from Cadena. A passed ball allowed Gamster to score.
Trever Baumler (1-1) took the loss after allowing three runs on five hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out three. Carson Cormier retired all four batters he faced in his collegiate debut, while Tyler Phenow retired all three batters he faced in his debut.
