
TCU Holds On For 8-5 Win Over UTA

FORT WORTH – No. 16 TCU ran its winning streak to six games with an 8-5 win over UT Arlington Tuesday night at Lupton Stadium. Brayden Taylor homered and drove in four in the victory. Cam Brown fanned a career-high nine.
The Rundown
UTA opened up a 2-0 lead in the first with four straight one-out hits. Cam Brown induced an inning-ending 3-6-1 double play and the offense rewarded him with a three spot in the bottom of the inning, taking a lead it would never relinquish.
Brown (2-0) went on to retired 15 in a row and 16 of his last 17 batters faced to get the game into the seventh. He finished the game allowing two runs on five hits and striking out nine.
Brayden Taylor's first home run of the season tied the game at two. David Bishop was hit by a pitch and was standing on third after a wild pitch and error with one out. Tommy Sacco delivered a sacrifice fly for a 3-2 TCU lead.
Three more runs crossed the plate for TCU in the second as the lead grew to 6-2. Taylor ripped a two-out, two-run single and eventually scored on a wild pitch.
Taylor's third hit of the game opened the fifth and turned into the seventh run of the game on a Sacco base hit. An errant pick-off throw in the eighth with two on pushed the Horned Frogs' lead to five, 8-3.
In the ninth, the Mavericks attempted a comeback as they had the tying runs on base with one out thanks to two errors and a pair of walks. River Ridings came on and struck out the final two batters of the game to secure the win.
