
Five Horned Frogs Drafted on Final Day

TCU has record nine players drafted
FORT WORTH – Five Horned Frogs were taken on the final day of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft bringing the final total to a school-record nine draft selections. TCU previously had eight draft picks in 2011 and 2015.
TCU's all-time leader in games played at 253, Josh Watson was the Oakland A's 15th-round pick. The senior left fielder left his mark on the TCU record book. He owns the walks record with 162 in his career and at-bats (933). Additionally, he ranks in the top five all-time in runs scored (199), hits (268), doubles (54) and total bases (430). This season, Watson hit .324 with a career-high 81 hits and 21 doubles. He also homered 10 times while driving in 42.
Zach Humphreys, selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 26thround, played in 44 games this season making 36 starts. He posted career-highs in batting average (.277), doubles (10), home runs (3) and RBIs (34). For his career, the catcher has played in 130 games and has collected 105 career hits of which 16 are doubles, five are triples and five are home runs. He has driven in 80 runs.
Alex Isola, a 29thround pick of the Minnesota Twins, came to TCU this past fall. He made 49 starts out of 54 appearances. In totaling 50 hits, he tallied seven doubles and hit five home runs while driving in 31 runs.
Jared Janczak, the 31stround pick of the Cleveland Indians, spent five seasons with the Horned Frogs. He made 40 starts out of 62 career appearances. He boasted a 3.11 ERA, racking up 256 strikeouts over 257 1/3 innings pitched. A two-time all-conference performer, he was a 2017 All-American.
Jake Eissler was TCU's final draft pick, going in the 38thround to the Cleveland Indians. The junior has made 55 appearances in a Horned Frog uniform and boasts a 13-5 record to go along with a 4.93 ERA. In 127 2/3 innings pitched, he has racked up 146 strikeouts.
On Day 1, Nick Lodolo became TCU's highest-ever baseball draft pick when he was selected No. 7 overall by the Cincinnati Reds. Brandon Williamson was selected 59thoverall as the Seattle Mariners' second round pick.
Day 2 saw a pair of Frogs selected in the seventh round. Johnny Rizer was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles, while Jake Guenther was picked up by the Tampa Bay Rays.
