FORT WORTH -- Jake Eissler and Haylen Green were named National Pitchers of the Week by Collegiate Baseball for their efforts on the mound in the series sweep of Lamar. Additionally, Green was tabbed the NCBWA National Pitcher of the Week and the Co-Big 12 Pitcher of the Week.
Eissler picked up where he left off last week against Texas Tech. The sophomore made his rotation debut on Saturday against Lamar and faced the minimum 18 batters through six innings of work. He allowed one hit, but picked the batter off. Additionally, he notched a career-high 12 strikeouts, giving him 23 over his last 11 innings pitched.
Green etched his name into the TCU history books becoming just the fourth TCU pitcher to toss a solo nine inning, one-hitter. It was the 19th one-hitter in program history. The sophomore lefty held a no-hitter into the ninth inning and allowed just three total baserunners in the game. Green issued just one walk and struck out a career-high 11 batters.
Previously, TCU has seen four players earn National Player of the Week honors. The duo joins Jared Janczak (March 20, 2017), Preston Morrison (Feb. 23, 2015), Brad Furnish (Feb. 22, 2006) and Lance Broadway (May 24, 2005) to earn national accolades.
