The Rundown
Texas A&M's J.B. Moss opened the scoring with a home run on a 1-0 pitch and the Aggies never looked back. With a pair of base runners on and two out in the first, an error kept the inning alive, leading to a pair of runs as the Aggies took a 3-0 lead.
TCU had a chance to cut into the Aggie lead in the second after a lead-off double from Luken Baker. He was standing on third with one out, but Aggie starter Kyle Simonds got a pair of groundouts to strand Baker at third.
After the first, Mitchell Traver (1-2) settled down, holding the Aggies hitless until the sixth inning when Jonathan Moroney stuck with a one-out home run to push the lead to four. A two-out double from Austin Homan added another run in the sixth.
TCU had a chance to get back in the game in the seventh after a pair of walks. Evan Skoug opened the inning with a free pass. Elliott Barzilli drew a one-out walk to put two base runners on for the first time in the game. Simonds got a pair of hard line drive outs to end the inning without a run scoring.
Texas A&M tacked on a pair of runs in the eighth on solo home runs to take a 7-0 lead.
The Frogs cracked the scoreboard in the eighth, picking up their only run of the game. Austen Wade drew a two-out walk and moved to second on a wild pitch. With two on, Skoug bounced a single up the middle to drive in Wade to make it a 7-1 ballgame.
