FORT WORTH - The TCU baseball team will begin preparations for the 2016 season Sunday afternoon when they open their fall practice schedule with an intrasquad scrimmage set for 1. The team will participate in 28 practice sessions over the next 45 days.
Fresh off their second straight appearance in the College World Series, the Horned Frogs return 15 letterwinners from a squad that finished 51-15 overall in 2015. Head coach Jim Schlossnagle will look to a talented balance of returners and newcomers to fill in the void left by the departure of five position starters and three starting pitchers. The roster features 20 newcomers in addition to the 19 players returning from a year ago.
In addition to Sunday's intrasquad game, fans will want to mark their calendars for Sunday, Oct. 4 when the team will scrimmage Abilene Christian at 1 p.m. Fall practice will conclude in November with the Purple-White Pizza Bowl. Dates and times for the series will be released at a later date.
Along the way, the Horned Frogs will play in numerous intrasquad games that will be free and open to the public. All regular practice sessions will be closed to the general public but open to professional scouts.
All practices are set to begin at 2:30 p.m. during the week while weekend practices are TBA and will be announced as they are scheduled via twitter (@TCU_Baseball).
