Young Selected 43rd Overall in MLB Draft

FORT WORTH - TCU junior pitcher Alex Young was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 43rd overall pick in the 2015 First-year Player Draft.
A 2015 first-team All-Big 12 performer, Young has put together a solid three-year career in the Purple and White. He has appeared in 60 games and made 19 starts while amassing a 17-9 record. Used primarily out of the bullpen his first two seasons on campus, Young has collected six saves in his career. The junior has racked up 168 strikeouts in 173 1/3 innings pitched and boasts a 2.38 ERA.
This season, Young was tabbed a second-team All-American after transitioning into the starting rotation. He has started 15 games as part of 16 appearances and owns a 9-2 record. In 89 2/3 innings pitched, Young has racked up 91 strikeouts.
During his 11 seasons as TCU's head coach, Jim Schlossnagle has seen 51 players drafted by 23 organizations. In total, the Horned Frogs have had 55 draft selections since 2004.
