White Wins World Series With 8-2 Victory

FORT WORTH – A three-run home run from Elliott Barzilli and a strong start from Mitch Sewald helped White take home the World Series crown with an 8-2 victory Tuesday afternoon.
Purple jumped out to an early lead with a run in the third on an RBI single from Luken Baker, but White responded with three in the bottom of the frame. Barzilli's three-run shot with two outs put White in front to stay.
Zack Plunkett added to White's lead with a fourth inning home run. Four more runs crossed the plate in the sixth to break the game open. Nolan Brown had the big hit with a two-run single.
For White, Brown had a strong day at the plate with three hits and two stolen bases to go along with his two RBIs. Plunkett added an RBI double to finish the afternoon 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
On the mound, Sewald turned in four solid innings. He allowed a run on three hits, walked three and struck out one. Brian Trieglaff surrendered a run on four hits and struck out four in three innings. Austin Boyles pitched a perfect eighth, while Durbin Feltman tossed a scoreless ninth.
Purple was led offensively by Ryan Merrill's two hits, including an RBI double in the seventh. Jared Janczak tossed 2 1/3 scoreless frames. He allowed two hits and struck out three.
