FORT WORTH, Texas-- The TCU Athletics Department selected Aaron Schultz and Neidra Covington as its Student Athletes of the Week for their recent efforts for the Horned Frogs.
Schultz led the Frogs to a 2-1 record at the Houston College Classic this past weekend batting .357 and driving in four runs. He recorded his first home run of the season on Friday in an 11-2 victory over Texas Tech. On Saturday, Schultz came through in the clutch, delivering the game-winning hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to lead the Frogs past Missouri, 4-3. He recorded a hit in all four games last week, going 8-for-19 with 5 RBI and three runs scored.
Covington closed last week claiming first-place accolades in the women's triple jump at the Arkansas Last Chance Meet with a seasonal-best jump of 43 feet, 2 1/2 inches. The senior, who is a three-time All-American, currently sits No. 11 in the NCAA. Overall, she comes into nationals with the ninth-best leap amongst competitors. Covington also placed second overall in the women's long jump in Fayetteville with a seasonal-best jump of 20 feet, 6 1/2 inches inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.
