
Frogs Open Super Regional Play Saturday

AUSTIN, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs will open up play in the program's first-ever NCAA Super Regional on Saturday evening against the tournament's No. 1 national seed, Texas. First pitch for game one is set for 5:05 p.m. on ESPNU. Audio for this weekend's contests will be on ESPN 103.3 with Chuck LaMendola and John Denton calling all the action for UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

TV: Saturday - First pitch is 5:05 p.m. on ESPNU.
Sunday - First pitch is 2:05 p.m on ESPN.

• TCU swept through the Fort Worth Regional to earn their first-ever trip to the NCAA Super Regionals.
• Jason Coats was named the Regional's Most Outstanding Player after driving in the game-winning run on Sunday.

NCAA TOURNAMENT NOTABLES
• TCU earned its second at-large berth in Jim Schlossnagle's era, having previously been an at-large team in 2005.
• The Frogs are a No. 1 seed in a regional for the first time in school history.
• Previously, the Frogs have been a two-seed (2005, 2007), a three-seed twice (2004, 2008) and a four seed (2006).
• The Frogs are one of only 16 teams to be in the last six regionals.
• TCU is one of three host sites hosting for the first time in school history.
• The Frogs are 11-14 (.440) all-time in the NCAA Tournament.
SERIES HISTORY - TEXAS
• TCU and Texas will be meeting for the 274th time on Saturday night.
• Texas holds a commanding 216-55-2 lead.
• Prior to the meeting earlier this season, the Frogs and the Longhorns played three times in 2002 with Texas winning two.
• Those three meetings all took place on a neutral field.
• The Frogs had last played in Austin in 2001 and came away with a 7-2 victory.
• Texas took a 6-0 decision in the only meeting between the clubs under Head Coach Jim Schlossnagle.
• The shut out ended TCU's 108 consecutive games streak of scoring a run.
• TCU appeared in a Regional hosted by the Longhorns back in 2004, but the teams never met on the diamond that season.
• Since the SWC folded, the Frogs are just 5-10 against the Longhorns.
A LOOK BACK AT THE REGIONAL
• The Frogs put together an amazing weekend of baseball to earn their first-ever trip to the Super Regionals.
• Offensively, the club hit .347 (35-for-101) with 11 extra base hits.
• They averaged eight runs per game and posted an on-base percentage of .481.
• On the mound, all three starters went at least seven innings and posted an ERA of 2.67.
• Opponents hit just .196 off of the six pitchers used.
• Defensively, the club committed just one error and had a .992 fielding percentage.
FROM WALK-ON TO WALK-OFF
• Jason Coats went from a walk-on to an instant hero with his game-winning single on Sunday night to propel the Frogs into the Super Regionals.
• The freshman battled through a nine-pitch at-bat before coming up with the game-winning hit.
• In the tournament, he tallied three multi-hit games and drove in four runs.
• He led all hitters with seven-hits in the tournament and ranks 30th nationally with his .583 batting average in postseason play.
