CAPE COD, Mass. -- TCU pitcher Sam Demel was named to the Cape Cod League West Division All-Star Team.Pitching for Falmouth in the prestigious summer baseball league, which features the nation's top players, Demel has posted 11 saves and a 1.66 ERA. He has appeared in 22 of his team's 38 games through July 30. The 11 saves are second in the Cape Cod League. The rising junior from Spring, Texas, has allowed just 12 hits in 21 2/3 innings for a .154 opponent batting average. He has struck out 30 and walked seven.
Demel is pitching in the Cape Cod League for the second straight summer. He was a first-team All-Mountain West Conference selection in 2006 as TCU made its third consecutive NCAA Regional appearance. Demel posted a 6-6 record with six saves for the Frogs.
