FORT WORTH, Texas - One of the Frogs' hottest hitters a year ago, junior outfielder Keith Conlon sat down to answer a few questions about his experiences at TCU. Conlon led the Frogs and Conference USA with a .400 batting average in league action. He finished the season with a .333 mark to go along with six home runs and 42 RBIs.
Q:What has your TCU experience been like since you've been here, both academically and athletically?
A:"My experiences at TCU have been unbelievable both academically and athletically. I have done very well academically because I have great professors and great support from the athletic department`s academic services office. Athletically, TCU has been a perfect fit for me. Last year was the most fun I have ever had on a team, and I miss a lot of the guys who graduated or got drafted. I have been very fortunate to have had such a great experience thus far at TCU."
Q:With the long break coming and practice starting right after the holiday break, what will you do to keep yourself in shape and ready to go once practice starts?
A:"To stay in shape over the break, I will go back to the gym where I have trained for a couple of years. It's a great place to work out and get things done. I will also run, hit and throw at my old high school field and use the facilities there. I will just try and get as much work done with whoever is around and is still playing college baseball. It's nice because Will Skelton and now Hunt Woodruff are both from Highland Park as well."
Q:After a semester with the new guys and the returners, how are you guys gelling as a team and describe the personality of the team.
A:"This year's team is much different. Last year, most of the guys on the team were older and we all got along really well and very quickly. This year's team is much younger and it took a lot longer for guys to really feel comfortable with everyone. However, now we really get along great and enjoy being around each other. I really think we have a great group of guys this year, and I really believe we are going to be a great team."
Q:What are your expectations heading into the season and a new conference?
A:"My expectations are extremely high for this year especially after losing in a regional this past season. I do not want for this season to be like last year. I want us to get past the regional and super regional rounds and go to Omaha, and I really believe we have the talent to do that. I think we will be the team to beat in the Mountain West and we will be one of the top teams in the country. It's going to be a fun year, and I hope there is great fan support at all the home games. Go Frogs!"
