COLUMBUS, Ohio - Chad Huffman, a two-time second-team all-conference performer, has been named to the seventh annual preseason All-America college baseball team as voted upon by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). The junior utility player, a second-team selection, is the only Mountain West Conference representative on the three-team squad.
Huffman was a key cog in the Frogs' school-record 41 wins last season and finished second on the squad with a .353 batting average. He appeared in all 61 contests, starting 60. He led the Frogs with a career-high 12 home runs and drove in 53 runs. For the second straight season, Huffman was named second-team all-Conference USA. Earlier this fall, Huffman was one of four Mountain West baseball players to be named to the Brooks Wallace Award watch list.
Three other Frogs in school history have garnered preseason All-America honors. In 2002, Terry Trofholz was a second-team honoree, while Clayton Jerome and Shelby Ford each earned third-team preseason accolades in 2004 and 2005, respectively.
