
Baseball Opens Up Fall Workouts

Fort Worth, Texas - Head coach Jim Schlossnagle announced the upcoming fall schedule for the Horned Frog baseball squad. The team will begin practices on Tuesday, Sept. 14. The Frog's fall schedule runs through Oct. 11 and will be highlighted by the Purple and White World Series beginning Oct. 6.
The fall practices will be the first chance for fans to see the returning C-USA Conference Champions in action. Fourteen members from the 2004 squad return, when the Horned Frogs finished 39-26 overall and fourth in Conference USA with a 19-11 record. The Frogs put together a five-game win streak to take the Conference USA Tournament title in Houston. Highlighting the returners are all-American and Conference USA Freshman of the Year, Chad Huffman and all-American Shelby Ford. Highlighting the newcomers are draftees Sam Demel, Matt McGuirk and Zach Ashwood.
The Frogs will begin practice Tuesday-Friday at 2:15p.m. Scrimmages are set to begin Friday, Sept. 17 with another one on Saturday, Sept. 18. Saturday's practices will begin at 10:00 a.m.
"The beginning of fall practice is always an exciting time to see how the returning players have improved and what the new players have to offer," said Schlossnagle."On paper, this TCU team is very talented but we have a lot of work to do to reach the goals we have set and all of that begins tomorrow."
All games are open to the public and free of admission. Also included in the schedule is the Major League Scout day; which is set for Wednesday, Sept. 29. Anyone wanting to conduct interviews is asked to contact Brandie Davidson at 817-257-7479.
