2004 Baseball Schedule
TCU head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle has announced the Horned Frogs' 2004 schedule. The 56-game regular-season slate includes 29 games at the state-of-the-art Lupton Stadium and Williams-Reilly Field.
"I am excited about the opportunity to play 30 games in our home ballpark versus some of the premier teams in our part of the country," said head coach Jim Schlossnagle. "We have 16 games versus teams that played in last year's NCAA tournament, and play some of the best programs from the Big 12, Pac-10, Mountain West and the Southland Conference."
TCU opens up the regular season with a three-game series beginning February 5 at 7:00 against NCAA Division I newcomer Dallas Baptist. The Patriots made the jump from NAIA to NCAA at the beginning of this season. Dallas Baptist is coming off a successful 2003 season in which they were crowned the National Champions of the National Christian College Athletics Association. The Frogs will play their first six games at Lupton Stadium as Texas State will play a three-game series February 13-15. Following the opening homestand, the Frogs will hit the road for an eight-game stretch. Highlighting the road trip will be a three game series with Texas Tech beginning February 27.
Other highlights of the 2004 non-conference portion of the Frogs home schedule include a first-ever meeting with St. John's (March 5-6) and New Mexico (March 12-14). TCU also welcomes Oklahoma (March 16), NCAA Super Regional qualifier Baylor (April 27) and Sam Houston State (May 18) for mid-week tilts.
In Conference USA action, TCU hosts Memphis (March 16-18) to open the C-USA schedule. They will also welcome conference foes Cincinnati (April 9-11), Saint Louis (April 23-25), UAB (May 7-9), and Charlotte (May 20-22) throughout the season.
The road portion of the Frogs conference slate is one of the toughest as they face NCAA Regional Qualifiers Houston (March 26-28), Southern Miss (April 2-4) and East Carolina (May 14-16) on the road. The Frogs are also slated to play three-game tilts on the road against South Florida (April 16-18) and Louisville (April 30-May 2).
