The Spartans batted around in the sixth, scoring five runs on six hits, including RBI-doubles by Brandon Macchi, John Fagan and Ryan Brucker. Fagan led the Spartans with three hits, two doubles and three RBIs. They scored a pair of runs in the second on Fagan's two-run double to take a 2-0 lead.
The Frogs threatened to get back into the seventh, loading the bases on a Erick Macha single and consecutive walks by Tom Bates and Mike Settle. Pinch-hitter Jeff Reed grounded into a fielders choice, scoring Macha. The inning ended when pinch-hitter Trey Crawford struck out and Reed was thrown out attempting to steal second base. TCU managed only six hits in the game and they struck out a season-high 13 times. Settle led TCU with two hits, a double and a single, and one walk.
Tim Adinolfi earned the win, allowing two runs on five hits, two walks and a career-high nine strikeouts. Justin Crowder suffered the loss, allowing five runs in 5.1 innings.
TCU will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 27, when they travel to Lubbock to face Texas Tech. The Frogs will host UTA at the TCU Diamond on Wednesday, Feb. 28.
