Baseball Falls 5-0 to San Jose State

SAN JOSE, Calif. (April 22) - Tim Adinolfi pitched a complete game shutout to lead San Jose State to a 5-0 Western Athletic Conference win over TCU April 22 at Municipal Stadium.
Adinolfi, who improved to 5-1 on the season, struck out eight and walked one. The shutout was his first of the year.
Adinolfi and TCU starter David Tombrella held the two teams in check until the bottom of the sixth, when Brandon Macchi gave San Jose State a 1-0 lead with his fourth home run of the season.
The Spartans broke it open in the eighth, scoring four runs on four hits and two TCU errors. Junior Ruiz began the inning with a bunt single down the third base line and Tony Tognetti followed with a double. John Fagan's single to right field loaded the bases. The Horned Frogs retired the next two batters, but the Spartans scored twice on an error. Following another error, Ryan Brucker's two-run single ended the scoring.
Brucker had three hits and two RBI to lead the Spartans.
The Spartans improved to 14-7 in conference games, 28-16 overall.
San Jose State returns to action Tuesday, when they host San Francisco State is a 2:30 p.m. game at Municipal Stadium. No radio coverage of the game is scheduled.
