Horned Frogs ready for final nonconference matchup
FORT WORTH – In the last nonconference match before closing out the season with five Big 12 contests, the 23rd-ranked TCU women's tennis team will go up against Cal Poly on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center.
LAST TIME OUT
TCU posted a pair of Big 12 victories over the weekend against Oklahoma State and Kansas State. Against the No. 26 Cowgirls, the Frogs bolstered together a comeback victory, winning 4-3 in Stillwater.
On Sunday, TCU took down Kansas State, 4-2, in Manhattan to jump out to a 7-1 start in conference play. Raquel Caballero Chica earned her first Big 12 weekly honor of the year after her performances against both teams, garnering Big 12 Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
TOP OF THE TABLE
Through four weekends of competition, the Frogs are 7-1 in Big 12 play. That mark is good enough to sit alone at the top of the league and lead the team in second place by one match.
Two of TCU's remaining opponents, Baylor (6-2) and Utah (5-2), are currently inside the top five of the conference standings.
SUCCESS IN SINGLES
TCU has three individuals who have started out the conference slate with a 5-0 or better record in singles play. Cayetana Gay has started out Big 12 play with a 6-0 record, and Cristina Ramos-Sierra and Yu-Chin Tsai have each recorded a 5-0 record to date. No other school in the entire conference has as many players with this accomplishment.
HISTORY AGAINST THE MUSTANGS
Tomorrow marks the first-ever showdown between these two programs. So far this season, Cal Poly is 7-6 overall and 3-0 in Big West play.
The Mustangs have already gone up against a Big 12 foe earlier this year, opening the year against BYU. Cal Poly is 1-3 against ranked teams thus far and will face its fifth test of the 2026 dual season in tomorrow's matchup.

#125 – Cristina Ramos Sierra
UP NEXT
