Women’s Tennis Announces Five Signings for 2026-27

Cohort featured five Horned Frog newcomers
FORT WORTH – Coming off a historic season in which the program saw its first Big 12 Tournament title in school history and first NCAA Tournament appearance in nearly a decade, TCU Women's Tennis head coach Lee Taylor Walker has announced five signings for the 2026-27 campaign.
"We aren't done yet with this recruiting cycle, but we know these five players are a massive part of what TCU has in store for the future of our women's tennis program," Walker said. "We feel very confident that we can defend our Big 12 title and we're pumped to move further into the top tier of programs in the country."
This year's cohort features a handful of individuals: Kira Matushkina (St. Petersburg, Russia; Old Dominion), Sofiia Mykhailets (Dnipro, Ukraine; Memphis), Erika Nováková (Prague, Czechia), Sienna Poma Caruso (San Salvador, El Salvador) and Hanna Resch (Munich, Germany). These five individuals tie the most players added in a signing class in program history, matching the total from last season.
Matushkina previously spent three seasons at Old Dominion and has established herself as a name to know around the country during that time. A two-time Singles and Doubles First Team All-Sun Belt player, Matushkina played the previous spring ranked inside the ITA for the entire campaign.
"Kira has proven to be one of the elite college tennis players in her first three years at Old Dominion," Walker said. "Her experience and rive will be an immediate contribution for our team and we look to partner with her in moving closer to her dreams and goals."
Recording 26 overall wins in singles and doubles throughout the 2025-26 season, the St. Petersburg, Russia, native has won at least 20 matches in each of her three seasons of collegiate tennis thus far.
Mykhailets, an incoming transfer from Memphis, has been named to the American Conference's All-Conference Team for the past two seasons. Playing at line one singles in every match for the Tigers, Mykhailets posted a 10-3 record including a seven-match win streak from late February to early April, all coming in straight sets. Her 10 wins at the number one position are the third most of any player in the conference.
"Sofiia is an incredible athlete with tons of potential already and has beaten some of the best players in the country," exclaimed Walker. "We love her demeanor, disposition and everything she'll bring to the team. We expect her to contribute immediately and build upon our championship team."
Mykhailets claimed big wins for Memphis all season, including a 7-5, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) victory at Wake Forest, a 6-2, 6-3 victory in the Tigers upset of No. 52 Columbia and wins over several NCAA Tournament teams such as ETSU, UCSB, Denver and Xavier.
Resch, a Munich, Germany native, has a career-high ITF Junior ranking of No. 598. Someone who has gained experience playing in team-centered environments, Resch comes to Fort Worth ready to make an instant impact on and off the court.
"Hanna comes from a great tennis culture in Germany, where team competitions are normal throughout upbringing," said Walker. We love her team passion and creatively competitive spirit. We loved seeing how instantly attracted she was to TCU and everything it has to offer. We know she's going to give everything for the Frogs."
Nováková once held an ITF Junior career-high ranking of 326th in the world. Hailing from Czechia, the right-handed talent is someone who has both natural skill within the game and the mentality to prove it on the court.
"Erika is a super talented and athletic freshman from one of the best tennis countries in the world," Walker added. "She was one of the top juniors in the world, and we expect her to grow and develop into a top player for the Frogs during her career."
Poma Caruso is someone who has both family ties to TCU and also a
